Before the session
Family sessions are on location using natural light. We will find a beautiful outdoor location for your photos, and your suggestions are more than welcome! I have several locations that I can suggest as well. The best time to schedule the session is about 1 ½ to 2 hours before sunset; also know as the golden hour. This beautiful light also occurs for about 1 to 1 ½ hours after sunrise, so if you are up for that, I am too! If these times do not work out- we can work with your schedule. Indirect sun works best for my style of photography.
What to wear?
There are really no rules here, most importantly you want to reflect your personal style and be comfortable. Try to avoid clashing patterns and colors. I suggest picking a few basic colors and try to have everyone base their clothes around those colors. If possible, please try to stay away from all white tops or bottoms. Hats and scarves can add a fun pop of color, and can easily be switched out!

During the session
Think of this as a play date! My goal is for your family to just have fun, while I capture beautiful moments of your life right now. A typical session may find us sitting in your front yard or mine, in a beautiful park, downtown, or whatever fabulous place we agree upon. I am always looking for the perfect light, and will work hard to create beautiful, classic and crisp images for you to enjoy. I like to keep the session fun and relaxing, so let’s go make some great photos!
After the session
Approximately 7-10 days after the session or sooner, you will have a certain number of proofs (generally, between 20-25 for a standard portrait session; 5-10 for a mini-session) uploaded to a password-protected online gallery from which to choose your final prints and products.
Your online ordering gallery will be available for ten (10) days, and all orders and payments must be received within ten (10) days. After the expiration of ten (10) days, the online ordering gallery will expire. If you cannot make your order within that time, you will be required to pay a rehosting charge of $25 to re-list the online ordering gallery for an additional 5 days. No orders will be processed without having received payment in full for the order. Allow two to three (2-3) weeks for processing of your print order. Please bear in mind the 2-3 week turnaround time when ordering cards, invitations, announcements and/or prints that will be utilized as gifts.
